Marina Olmi
Born in Buenos Aires, painter, video artist, musician and performer. She left Argentina at 19 to live in Madrid, Los Angeles and Mexico City, where she worked with several teachers to explore different forms of expression: music, acting, painting, installations, design, performance and social activism (actions?). She also delved into disciplines related to healing, spirituality and conscience expansion which strengthened her social commitment to work with the vulnerable, the disabled and those lacking internal resources.
Marina returned to her hometown in December 2011 with her exhibition “Humor sharpens the eyes of intelligence”. After a show at the Museo Evita, she took the exhibition to Berlin, Moscow, Majorca, Barcelona and Paris. The exhibit talks about female energy and love as the only way to real transformation, death and rebirth. Olmi’s work balances its discourse between everyday images and the world of her own dreams, with bold colours and a clear political commitment that grew with her return to Argentina. Marina combines her work in the studio with a continuing search for new ways of communicating and runs workshops on creative resources and expressing emotions through painting with a view to easing processes to reconnect with freedom and identity.
